Weather: Awoke to storms, late start as a result. Some rain off and on at first then clearing skies with light winds
Water: 83, visibility of a few feet
Techniques: Alewifes on downlines (4) and light-lines (4)
Time Fished: 7am - 9:45a
Made plans to fish with Gary (Ready2Fish), on Monday morning..... so I went and hit the bait light about 10pm. Easy pickings - 3 throws with some sorting and had 7 or 8 dozen baits. Might have caught some more, but a line of thunderstorms was starting to come down the lake so I tucked my tail between my legs and ran up-lake towards it.... fortunately the worst split around the lake and missed me.
Alarm set for 5am - awoke to another line of storms coming through..... rain delay..... pushed us back till almost 7am for a start by the time the worst had cleared...... I say the worst, but there was still a bolt of lightning that struck not too far away as I was turning into Gary's cove to pick him up.
We started in the creek where we found fish again on Saturday - marked a few scattered singles but decided to fish there while we waited for the storm to move on further down the lake.... picked up a largemouth and a 24" or so striper while the rain was coming and going....
After a while of no action we picked up and moved on down the lake - looking in a couple of spots without making much - then went to another creek, marked some scattered fish so we decided to go ahead and put out baits..... was slow going but we picked up a few more.....almost a doulbe - had just landed a small one when Gary's light-line buried and he had a decent 9 lb / 29" fish.
Then we doubled up..... Gary landed a 1.5 lb largemouth - while I was fighting my citation......
A citation white perch that is just over 13".
Would have taken it to weigh at Captains Quarters but we had to get Gary back to his place to get on a conference call by 10:30...... so we'll have to accept it as a length citation....
Not the best morning in the catching department with the late start and we never found a pile of fish, but it was good company and we saw stripes - and my 1st white perch citation
