I am considering repowering my 2006 Champion Fish Hunter from a 115 4 stroke Yamaha to a 175 4 stroke Yamaha. I am sure I could ask a dealer but thought I would ask here as maybe someone would have some other thoughts. I am wondering if the mounting bolt pattern would be the same or would new holes have to be drilled? If new holes have to be drilled what is the procedure for repairing the old holes? Any thoughts would be appreciated. By the way my boat is rated for a 200.

Regarding mounting bolts check with Yamaha. If you have hydraulic steering that should not change much. The new motors now have wireless capability for shifting and throttle so that should be fairly easy as well. If you need to fill in the old holes you can get fiberglass plugs fit to size and gelcoat over them and it will look good. Saw this done in the Scout Boat factory in Summersville sc a few years back.

Thanks, I do have hydraulic steering and didn't know that the newer motors were wireless. I will ask Yamaha about the mounting, Thanks for the idea of the fiberglass plugs, I will look into that.

Yeah they cut the plug to the bolt hole size. Leaving it like1/16 indented on each end. Epoxy it in then add gelcoat for a seamless finish.
