I probably should just report my day as a skunk and be done with it... Because that is what it was. I do on the other hand have a reason for it. Took a guy out for the first time and it was a disaster to say the least. I planned on being on the water before daylight but someone was late and we weren't on the water until almost 7 a.m. Ugghh. At which point I decided to just drag a u-rig or two. Ran out from the Penhook ramp to BR-1 and the fog set in on us. It was thicker than pea soup. I didn't feel comfortable sitting in the middle of the lake so we eased on over towards the bank until the fog lifted. Just got worse from there on out. Couldn't mark a fish in Bulls and couldn't keep the rigs out of the trees. Think we got hung up 5 times in Bulls. My worst day for hang ups previously was maybe 3. Decided to head up lake and give it a try after one disaster after the other. About that time my passenger mentioned to me that he had some items that might need to go in the cooler. IT WAS FREAKING BANANAS. I should have just said the heck with it and headed back to the ramp but I am a glutton for punishment. Went up to Gills and Standiford area with no luck. Decided to catch some bait and heck with the u-rigs. Netted the hell out of ales one at a time and could not buy a gizzard. Lund1, I caught the heck out of carp in Silver and your other honey hole but nary a shad. Boat traffic was getting to be too much for me so I called it at noon. Come on September.
