I didn't have plans to fish Friday night since it was my better half's birthday. On the way home from NC, I mentioned to her that it'd be a nice night for a little fishing ,believe it or not, she agreed and said she would like to go too. Ended up launching at Penhook around 11 p.m. and headed down lake. Went to a point and the ales were up on the rip-rap and the fish were feasting on them. I threw and threw the usual stuff and just couldn't get a bite. I was wondering if the waxing gibbous moon was the problem. After about two hours I figured them out. Instead of casting from deep water to the bank I decided to throw from the bank to deeper water. It worked. Only problem was....I was tired and so was my date. Ended up catching four fish...including one nice fish over 30 inches. Since the June full moon was approaching and called the honey moon... I decided to call it quits at 2 a.m. and headed for the bed. (John, I went to sleep...I swear) Side note: I couldn't buy a bite with the F18, Thundersticks, Bomber or Xraps. I did ,however, have good luck with a Xcalibur XR50. Love those things.

Good report. I believe that when the moon is bright they stay out deeper. Seems like they rush in feed and back out. Those poor shad have to sit there waiting for the next attcak.

Nice report Mike, I love the sound of those fish smacking those lures at night. I used to get my "extremely" better half to go but after a while the bed just seems nicer than the boat. LOL Sounds like you found yourself a keeper there. I found one 45 years ago on the 20th of this month.
