Have not fished since late January but was finally able to get out this past weekend.
5/23 Saturday morning - water temps 72
One throw at 5:15 at a light and had all the 4-5 in and nice 7-8 ales I needed. My buddy and I decided to head towards the craddock and dam area of the lake . Got there to a fleet of boats. Started looking around and decided to setup. I had 4 down lines with 2 oz egg sinkers set at 30 ft , 6 planer rods with 25-30 ft of free line , and 2 free lines straight out the back. We ended up boating 9 fish 25"-32" and lost 3 fish , one which broke the hook in half right at the back of the boat and another which took me straight down to the trees. Caught them on the down lines and the planers and all fish released healthy . Called it about 10:00 feeling pretty good about my first morning out in quite some time.
5/24 Sunday morning - after making a water change the evening before woke up to find all my bait looking lively. Just me and the dog , I decided to go back down to the same area as Saturday morning . Arrived to find a pretty stiff wind. Set up and dragged bait fighting the wind. Did not mark as many fish this morning. Called it at 10:00 with 1 28" released fish.
5/25 Memorial Day morning - Had decided the evening before after making another water change I was going to sleep in and hope for the best with my bait. Woke my 8 year old up at 6:45 and asked him if he wanted to go , he hopped right up. Made a big cup of coffee and packed some snacks and we headed down to the dock hoping we still had bait. Besides about 8 floaters all of them we're still frisky as they could be. We left dock at 7:30 . A buddy texted me as we were leaving to see if I was fishing. He was down at the same area I had been fishing and had already boated a few. We got there to find the wind even worse than the morning before. We got everything setup and dragged bait for a while fighting the wind. It was slow. Finally had one hit a free lined planer and my son was on it. This fish really fought good and gave him a heck of a time , lol , but he got it to the boat and I netted it. Turned out to be a 27" fish but made the whole trip worth it. Released healthy

We hung out a little while longer and then went scouting around Bernard's and strawberry banks area. Did not really see much and could not get away from the wind so we decided to call it about 10:30 and head back for some breakfast .
Enjoyed being back on the water. Baseball is almost over so my son and I are looking forward to more time on the water .
