I am looking for a GPS/Fishfinder for my boat. I need one that will work in the bay/ocean as well as the lake. I have a budget of about $1500. Anyone have any advice they would like to share?

You can get a Lowrance HDS8 in that range - at least the Gen1- for a little less I think. Can get a new HDS7 Gen2 and StructureScan in that range I believe.
What depths will you be fishing - xducer selection may be as critical as the fish finder.

I'll be fishing SML, Cape Cod to Nags Head, and Chesapeake Bay. I've been looking at the HDS-7 Gen 2. Looks pretty good.
