Hadn't been out sine the first week of april....didn't want to fight the crowds during the spawn and fully intended to wait a couple more weeks until the fish were in my back yard, but heck after stripersjohns report, decided to get out.... yeah, I know memorial weekend traffic, but it actually wasn't to bad if you got out early and off the water by 10..... Did pretty good numbers wise, biggest fish was 34 inch...... got a few on down lines, but free lined planners (35 ft. behind the boards) and light lined planners (1/4 oz. weight- 30 ft. behind) were the ticket..... main lake points and flats.... fish seemed to be scattered, had to move around until you hit them..... sure were a lot of folks out fishing, not to be any reports....almost didn't post this one, just for spite.

nice report Bigun... thought we might have seen you at one point on Sunday while on a boat-ride with Bentrod in his shiny, freshly cleaned boat & the curse that comes along with a clean boat - though we did manage avoid the skunk.....

Hey Bigun nice outing. Lots of nice fish moving around. We only marked one big school and they moved on quickly. I think you could move around good areas with shallow ledges leading to major drops and hit fish pretty often.

Well done Sir. I would have loved to have been out fishing. Had a date with a hay field though.

Nice report. 35 feet behind? Wow that's a long distance. I guess you gotta be an old timer to pull that off. I'm going tomorrow to try a big gizz with an ale trebled to it's ass.

Sweet been wanting to see the results of that - may be genius. Will the stinger be free with the ale or actually in the gizz ass? I think free could be deadly assuming they don't tangle.

I should have said OUT off main lake points.... didn't go any shallower than 35' (on purpose anyway) .... some of the points run out into the lake probably 80 yards, and still not deep..... long flats in between them.... caught fish in 35 to 112 feet depth. (sorry yam, boat was in 35 to 112 feet of water. planners were shallower or deeper, depending on which side) .... Did catch 2 on baby 10-12 inch gizzards.... good idea on your piggy back, ales were the hot item....

After spawn they get really shy and will move away from the boat, that's why that long line seems to work this time of year. We were using 30-35 feet on the most outside planers, and 25-30 next and 18-25 inside boards. Had out floats back where you needed binos to see them LOL. We caught everything on lures and ales. I can't seem to run a free line back that doesn't get wrapped up in the planer lines so I just use floats.

My better sense says hanging free would be best. Thus I will pin it to the gizzards ass! Like Mward alluded to ..let them sneaky striper mess with the stinger then get a little ale or peanut treat!
