Came up to the lake to check out the repairs being done from the storm last Spring. Only had Sunday morning to fish and things didn’t start well. Dead battery in the boat, the pump in the bait tank went out and all the bait I could find was smaller alewives. Did get out about 7 and went out Gills creek. On the way out I passed a couple boats coming up and wondered if I was going the wrong way. I didn’t find any schools but marked several singles so I put out the bait. Had 5 hits and landed 4 with the biggest about 30 in. All came on top lines off planner boards and the down lines didn’t produce anything. The water temp was 73.5 with enough wind to make boat control more difficult and had to come in at 10:30. I do a lot more fishing than catching so it was a very good day for me. Plan to come up this weekend and try again. Definitely a great time of year to be on the lake.
