Was able to sneak out by myself each morning for a few hours of fishing. Saturday morning bait was a total pain. Tossed my net for a hour and a half for maybe 3 dozen alewives. Decided to run up blackwater and do some scouting. Checked Gills first and did not see much. Same around the islands at the mouth. Went up river further and started marking fish. Was fishing all down rods.Had some pull downs and some lookers but no hookups.Changed it up a little and put out 4 freelined planers along with 4 down rods. Had several hits on the boards and some pull downs on the deep rods but just could not hook up. Very frustrating. Sunday morning was a different story. Bait was thick , 1 throw and a full tank of assorted size alwives. Was back up the river on blackwater side setting out bait at daylight. Had 2 downlines set at 20 ft. 4 rods with planer boards, 2 freelined and 2 shotlined. 1 cork line set at 16ft way out back and 1 freeline straight out the back. Caught fish on every rod! It was awesome! Did not mark any big schools but there are definately fish there. Called it a day at 10:45 and headed back to watch some football. Can not wait to get back out there!

Very glad to see it's picking up. Great report, gets my blood moving. Bad thing about this time of year, I love to hunt as well as all my friends, and getting them to go fishing other then a Sunday is near impossible. Cheers, John
