Fished last night from the bank at the Smith Mountain Lake Community Area. My Son was in for the weekend from the Army and really wanted to take him out on the boat. But the T/T would go up but not down. So we improvised. Got there around 12:30. Shad on the bank thick. Couple guys catfishing where we wanted to fish but we fished anyway. Caught 1 striper about 24-26 inches. One bass about 2 pounds. Son lost what seemed to be a pretty nice striper! We left about 3:30. Shad were mostly gone by then. Did get to spend some time with my Son. So it was not the trip I wanted but it was still great to spend some time with him.

That last part is what really matters...... I was thinking - has anyone ever said "lost one that I was pretty sure was a dink"

When you lose one they get bigger the more you tell the story.

Nice report and really cool to spend time with your Son. I remember those late night talks with my Son when he would come home for leave. Sure makes you grateful. Thanks
