Hi guys, My son and I are coming up to SML next Thursday and fishing thru Saturday. We will be fishing for largemouth and hopefully some smallmouth. We live in NC and fish every weekend. Our water color is very stained. I fished Smith every weekend over 15 years ago and have not fished it since. We are both pretty versatile anglers and are comfortable fishing plastics, jigs and moving baits. We are staying at the bridge but do not an issue with running the lake to catch fish. Can you guys give us some good ideas as to what baits are hot right now and the depth or type of water we should be looking for?
Thanks in advance
Brady

Thanks in advance Brady The bass are still spawning so they are still on the beds, so stay fairly shallow. As far as the bass are concerned, they still spawn in the same places they did 15 years ago, so where ever you caught them then during the spawn, you can probably catch them there now. Try some main channel, and secondary points, and you should find some fish on them.

Spinnerbaits in dirty water, bed fishing, and thundersticks at night. Many tournaments happening so the fishing can be tough. Early morning has been best for me.

I"ll be down next week also trying to catch a few of those SML bass. Is the shad spawn going on right now? I think we will mostly be fishing the upper Roanake arm. Maybe down to Indian Run.
