My dad and I headed out around 2pm after working on the boat for the majority of the morning. We primarily fish the dark side but decided to burn some gas and head north of the bridge. We stopped in two coves on the way and were able to load up on moneymakers and a few mongos. We picked our spot and put out our standard spread (3 shoreside planers and 2 floats off the back; all on free lines). We were marking fish but were unable to get them to commit to a meal. After a few blow ups with nothing to show for it we noticed one of the floats in the back getting some attention. Then the float disappeared and my dad set the hook. After playing with the drag he landed this 35 inch fish. This is the biggest fish he has pulled out of the lake so we were pretty stoked. We couldn't find the scale so we aren't sure how much it weighed. Does anyone have a guess on its weight? Unfortunately this was our only fish of the afternoon but was well worth the hike up the Roanoke. My dad and I will be out a few more times in April. We have a white 21.5 Seaborne Sundance CC. If you see us out there stop and say hi. Cheers.

Also, it's important to note that we released that fish right after the picture was taken. CPR

When I look at this fish, I see a normal looking fish on SML. Definitely not fat. No rolling belly or sinking hand. In fact.. Maybe leaning towards thin. What do you know.. The table says a smaller fish at 35 inches should be around 16 pounds.
