Took a coworker out for his first striper fishing adventure. It was a wet one. Rained most all day. We started at 4am searching for bait. Threw in several creeks ended up with 7 big gizzards and 20 or so ales. Put out a spread on some main lake points 3 shad and 2 ales on freeline boards and a big fat ale on a float. The only action was on the big shad. Changed all lines to big shad and pulled them for a long time. tried some creeks as well. Lots of short strikes and blow ups just couldn't seem to get them to hold on long enough. We finally landed one at a little after 2pm. Then we caught a nice catfish. By then all our big bait was either dead or barely swimming so I retied all the rods with small hooks and got a few smaller fish on a main lake flat. He had a good time and that was my goal for the day. All the stripers were well below the slot.

Hmmmm...I had no action on Big Shad and feverish action on peanuts and ales in your area yesterday. Assuming you were fishing the areas you usually seem to fish. Weird how every day is different. Actually it is awesome! A puzzle that never gets boring!

Puzzle is the correct term for sure. I can't figure them out!
