With being busy at work and a few other things, hadn't been out since New Years week. Excited and pumped for some action.
Friday night.... re-spooled some reels and retied all my leaders, loaded my rod and reels, bait tank, landing net, tackle, graph, grabbed my remote and boat key and threw it in the boat.... caught bait around 11pm, put it in the shad cage. Wanted everything but putting some bait in the bait tank the next morning ready to go as to not waste any time..... went back in the house, showered, filled the coffee pot up, set the timer for 5:25 am and my alarm clock for 5:30.... check, check and double check, good job everything ready to go.....
sat. morning..... filled up bait tank with bait, ready to go..... nope.... I have forgotten a bunch of things over the years, remote, landing net etc. etc., the first time I have forgotten to charge my TM battery.
Knew with the NC striper clubs that were here, added to the regular fleet mix, no way I was going to head up river and fight that crowd and had planned on fishing close (mid-roanoke) anyway, grabbed the battery, cranked the charger up for an hour hot charge and cussed till it was time to go...... grabbed the batter and took off,,, not enough battery for the gale force winds.... after having to crank the boat off and on for 45 minutes to keep from running into the bank or a dock.... heck with it and headed in.....
Sunday..... beautiful morning, headed out. After about an hour of blowups, stolen bait, missed and/or unbuttoned fish, and only 2 fish to show for it.... shat, time to re-rig, and find some deeper fish to down line on..... did pretty good and more importantly, had a blast.
just about forgot, sat. night, my wife and I and two couples went out for dinner, looked up, and who comes walking by our table with a big smile on his face.... one of our very own. Anyone that knows him, knows... he never meets a stranger and can shoot the breeze with the best of them.... slowed down said a few words, patted me on the back and took off. You would have thought I had pulled a gun on him. Dangit mward, that was a napkin I picked up off the table when you stopped by, and not the dinner tab. LOL!!!.... J/K good to see ya again bud
