I went stripper fishing with bait for the first time in years, I like to throw after them at night, by my self I only had 4 rod and reals with shad on them and casting one with a buck tail . Well to make a long story short there was a stripper burning up this point so I was tiring to get over there to throw a buck tail on it and wam bam thank you mam, four poles got hit and as I was trying to get back to get them I knocked my casting bait caster over, by that time it was all over took about 10 seconds for me to loose all my rod and reals, I think I am officially the biggest idiot now on the lake. Going back to night fishing after I but another rod and real.

I feel your pain. A couple of years ago, I laid down a just set pole (Brand New) to bait another pole. That new rod and reel shot off the boat like it was connected to a jet. I assume it was a 40 pounder. Hey we live and learn and at least you are not giving it up. That's why they call it fishing and not catching.

Dude, that sucks. I'd be willing to bet everyone on this forum has a "idiot" story. They just won't admit it. LOL. Last year I was trolling u-rigs and caught a fairly nice fish and with all of the excitement I managed to deep six my brand new abu 6500lc. Rod and real were only hours old. I was able to way point it really quick. Went back the next day and spent almost a hour dragging the bottom in 70+ fow. I was lucky and got it back.

Snuffer depending on bottom type and depth you might be able to mark them with sidescan and drag for them. That many rods and reels should not be that hard to find if they stayed together.

That blows - I lost a buddy's rod n reel after he had purchased it from ME! Ha - it was raining and there was shad slime on the rod handle - the rod got crushed and I went to set the hook and the rod slipped out of my hands and into the lake - the worst part of the whole thing was that it was a good fish - somebody may luck out one day with a citation and a free rod!
I was fishing with Mward earlier this year and we doubled up - once we had released both of the fish, we both noticed a stick or something on one of the lines - well turns out it was one of my rods that got thrown out of the boat during the excitement and the only thing keeping it attached to the boat was the hook on the end of the line that snagged one of my outboard cables. Got lucky on that one!

Yep - had a fish yank a shad-covered rod from my hands up at the Cowfield below Moormans a few years back.... fortunately it was an Okuma reel on a Ugly stick, but still..... Summer before last my son hung up on something on a down-line near Craddock.... We reeled in a U-rig with 9 5" Storm swim-baits.... and then the rod & Daiwa reel it was connected too... don't think it could have been in the water 24 hours....

My list goes from rods and reels to cellphones, a cooler full of sprites, a hamburger, lifejackets, 2 brand new spools of yozuri flouro, trailer winch handle, various nuts and bolts and "almost" and brand new lowrance 17m.... course we could all be like my cuz that threw his throw net without it attached to his wrist...

How deep was the water? If under 40 feet, get a 5 ounce spoon and the biggest treble hook you can find. I have retrieved a cast net, several fishing poles, a landing net and a number of catfish using this technique.
