9/15/12 Report

What a pretty morning on the water! Tank full of medium to small alewives and some small gizzards. Water temps 76-77. Started out fishing lower roanoke end with a couple of fish. Pulled up and scouted for a hour or more all the way to the bridge in creeks and mouths. Did not really see much so headed back down to where we started. Put bait down 20 - 40 ft and caught a few more fish. Wasn't really seeing much so pulled rods in to move down some more and while up on plane saw a school of fish bustin topwater right straight in front of us about 100yrds or so . Dropped down and started to get bait down and it was on fire for the next hour. It was so crazy we lost count on fish. All fish caught 20-40 ft on down lines. No big fish,all 22"-29". Had a tank full of bait and when we finished for the day we had less than a dozen left. What a blast!

I got out saturday am as well and it was a zoo from sportsmans to vista point. I saw ya out SeaJay but never got close enough to holler at ya. We found a nice school of fish finally closer to betty and beckys and jigged up a few before the game wardens checked us and the boats around us. After the check no one caught another fish so we went bass fishing and did real well. Looking at seajays report makes me wish I woulda stuck around that particular area a lil longer before running up the river haha. All in all a good day of fishing, but the boat traffic was rough. Comeeee onnnnnn snow sleet and freezing rainnnnnnnnn

Yes - yes it does - and then it ticks me off when you get a call about busting fish and don't go and it turns out to be ON in a big way.......

Ha!!!! my Doodle doesn't get near excited as it used to. but catching fish does give it a warm, fuzzy feeling.
