Greetings, 3/23 Wanted to take my dad out striper fishing for the 1st time and where else to start but SML. Put in at the bridge and headed up river. Water temps about 50ish increasing to 60 up river. Some debris from Indian on up with pretty stained water. Caught bait no problem and pulled banks...I say no problem but considering the amount of laughter I created out of my dad, something was amiss .. Had 3 nice strikes but no hook sets. Moved back downriver where I met Mward pulling the same creek. Marked plenty of bait and a few fish but no takers. SKUNK. 3/26 Ran the same pattern as previous outing. Water temps a little cooler ranging from about 48-58 as I headed upriver. Less debris with the mudline moving farther up river. Bait still plentiful, with all sizes available. Ended up with a number of crappie, bluegill and a 4-5 lb flathead in the process of throwing as well. God those flatheads are ugly. Started farther up and worked my way back to the area we had strikes as the wind was pretty strong. Similar experience with some quick strikes/misses however I landed 1 striper that went about 5 lbs pulling banks off the main channel. Did some researching later in the day. I saw same pattern as Mward. Bait in creeks however in 40 fow. Some nice balls. Only decent size marks I saw were off the main channel , mainly over trees in 70 fow, not in the creeks fwiw. Good to shed the skunk but im ready for some fish.
