The ugly stick version. Anyone know the difference? I have a rough time finding the striper rods but the Catfish rods are everywhere.

I've been told they are on the same blank (well - the MH ones anyway). The handle portion (I forget the technical name for that) is longer on the catfish rods than the Striper rod - so the reel sits further up the blank and I guess results in what feels like more backbone to the rod.
Think the catfish rods have glow in the dark tips now - but similar guides with spacing adjusted accordingly

In other words....nothing. not really - they do fish different due to the longer hand/butt and placement of the reel seat on the rod blank... mostly the same components and such though - yes.

The difference in the placement of the reel, and thus the length of the butt, makes a pretty big difference in my book. Not from how they fish, but with the catfish rod, the longer butt means that when it’s in a rod holder, the butt sticks a few more inches into the boat. My boat’s pretty tight on space, so catfish rods are much harder to get around when I'm going from front to back, or vice versa, and when I’m trying to move fast, I regularly jam my thigh and end up cussing up a storm. I like the striper rods much more as a result, although I haven't been able to find them when I've looked lately.
