Very nice. Never been to Philpott before but it's on my list to get the yak out on this year.

I would encourage you to do so in late May through June. You can catch just about any fish in the lake with relative ease during that time.

Gator, I make all my own harnesses. Spinner and spoon variants. I made my own bottom bouncers too, but the store bought ones are better. 1" - 1.25" Colorado blade, cheap swivel, folded clevice, 25lb flouro, Gamma walleye hooks 2.5" apart. 5/8" float and a couple 5mm beads.

Nice looking rig. I tried using just a 3-way swivel for my harness rigs(istead of a bottom bouncer) and it was not that good. The 3 way does work well for slow trolling a stick bait. For me anyway.

I've never been able to get a 3 way to work right for anything. I need a rig similar for white perch rather than a bouncer, but just haven't had luck with anything.

Nice video, I live here in Martinsville and fish philpott regularly from a kayak. You said you fish for white perch, you catch any in philpott? I do pretty good on them at Buggs.

Thanks guys, definitely on my list for this year, and probably will be asking questions as we get closer to spring. I've never fished for them below Minnesota.

Are you using night crawlers, leeches or some other variant? LOVE the vid, my dad is from Wis and talks about walleye and pike all the time.

Irons, there aren't any white perch in Philpott. I suspect there will be eventually, but I have never caught or seen one there. It would be a great lake for white perch, but I don't think there is enough food for them and I'd hate to see the damage they could do to the walleye fishery. All of my WP fishing is at SML, where I do very well year round.
Piper, sometimes I use crawlers, sometimes I use a lot of other stuff. Most of the fish caught in this video were on artificials, though I did use crawlers that day with less success. These walleyes seem to want something different every couple hours, which is a big change from the walleyes I am accustomed to fishing for up north. There aren't leeches in Philpott, but the walleyes will eat them just the same, they are the best walleye bait ever. They are very tough to come by around here though. I've even used flies at Philpott, like the kind you would fly fish with!!

Nice video JohnR!
Walleyes are king up north. My father in law from South Dakota is an excellent walleye fisherman. We actually used that same rig you are using. Man that guy could clean a walleye in no time and also cut out the cheek meat. He won't eat anything but Walleye and I must say, they are the finest tasting freshwater fish in my mind as well.
Again nice video! Cool angles and nice fades!

Thanks!! South Dakota, my second favorite place in this world behind North Dakota. (Third is lost-in-the-bush, Quebec.)
Cheek meat is the best. And I do mean the best.
I need a sturdy pole to mount the camera on. I want an overhead of the boat while fishing, but don't want a wobbly video. Its crazy to think that I fished about 10 hours the day this was made, caught over 20 walleyes and struggled to get 6 good minutes of footage. I need a second camera.
