This was my first trip to SML for some time as I have been going to Buggs earlier this year. My daughter was with me and all I heard was that she was cold. Day started off cold as I had temps at 21 while driving up from NC. Started the day at Hardy Forge bridge (25F) and it was my first time fishing this side of the lake. I was expecting deeper channels and was surprised about the depth for about the first mile down the lake. Once I started seeing depths of about 30 feet I started marking some good bait and some fish. Once I got to 40 feet I put down bait to about 30 feet and they started getting nervous. I had two good strikes before hooking my first and only fish of the day. It was about a 13-14 pound fish. Once the wind picked up it got a little more difficult I had to leave about an hour later. We were out of there by noon. Overall I was pleased with the trip. I plan to be back in the next week.
