Hit the water late in the afternoon with Mward and yak. We caught our first fish letting the boards out - 16lbs. After that we fished for about 15-20min with no action to the back of the cove where we found lots of gizzards. So we went into bait catching mode for an hour until about 4:30pm when we went looking for birds - no dice there so we put it in the slip. Not much to it but beat a skunk. Water was 48-49. Mr gizzard was everywhere Hung up on this and drug it off the bottom with the outboard - dropped it on a big crappie tree so everybody is happy.

We were using big bait, but peanuts or alewives should be working well this time of year as well - really better than big shad as the water cools.
