12/21/14 Tough bite- worth the effort

Fished 8am-4pm. Roanoke Side above bridge. Water temps 46-48. Spent first hour looking for working birds but found most sitting on the water. Few small schools of fish on the sonar where birds sitting so must have missed the big show by a few minutes. Started pulling big bait and got one small beauty (5lbs) before I could get all the bait out. Pulled for another 3 hours and had a few blow-ups and missed one. Decided to try another spot. Bite was the same until mid afternoon. Found fish holding on a 100 yrd stretch of bank. Caught two on bait, two casting, and lost two that I had hooked for 5-10 seconds. Biggest was nearly 35" and 16 lbs. All safely released.Slow day but persevered and had a fun action packed hour to end on.

Good report, seems like what I saw the last few days. Afternoon heat brings em on.
