Maybe 5 minutes. I was easy with him and lucky his teeth didn't cut my line.

Congratulations. You accomplished a pretty rare catch.
At SML, a musky is truely "a fish of a thousand casts". Probably even more......

Nice! One pops up every now and then. I've only seen one in person as it followed a shakey head I burned back from a deep water brush pile 2 years ago in a tournament. I think Dan with DGIF said they used to stock them a long time ago but haven't in many years. I wonder if they are actually reproducing?

A few years ago when I met dan with Hunter down on Leesville. I asked him about musky stocking. He said sml is the last body of water to get stocked if any musky fingerling are left over. On the years it does get stocked it is any where between 5 to 5000...
You could fish for them. But you'll probably have more slow days than good days. . We catch or hang a few here and there. We caught 4 in one month was the best ive done that was also the only 4 we got that year in 2012. But I've only found 1 area that typically holds musky the rest I've caught and heard caught was scattered around the lake no typical areas..
I remember growing up in the 80s and 90s the very back of lil and big bull run was where guys would go for Muskys due to all the hydrilla. I remember hooking a few when I was a kid trolling lead core on Sutton spoons near the humps in bull run at the farm house. . but you know what happened to all that grass the past several years thanks to the yanks.
