I've not posted a report in awhile - sorry for that - haven't fished a whole lot this fall for various reasons. Last time I fished on my boat in early November, I spent the morning working on the outboard, got to fish the afternoon and we did pretty good then my trolling motor took a dump on me right as we were wrapping up the he day. So I've been boat less since then - luckily Mward blew his lower unit out and needed a boat to put his trolling motor on! We (well he did - I watched) rigged his trolling motor onto my boat this morning about 7am, then loaded up some 3 week old shad and headed to the fishing grounds. Mward missed a couple to start off the trip then a rod got smoked and he asked me if I wanted it - I told him to go ahead - it's a good fish - he'll regret handing it over - so he casually reels up a 22lber - not bad at all! After that we caught numerous fish on shad - most in the 26-30" range with a couple larger to 34-35". Pretty consistent action until we packed it in around noon running out of bait. We went on mission shad catching to reload the shed tank, but after getting 11 in over an hour, we said screw it and headed on in.
Water temps are 47-48ish where we fished. Not seeing many birds yet - well seeing them, but they're lazy. Fish are thickening up well finally - looking good for the winter and spring bite - should be a few fatties caught. Big baits plentiful but it's running 20ft deep on a 30ft bottom mostly, so it's challenging even with a 10fter. Once they slow down some, they'll be easier to load up on.
Gizz ready - you don't fish enough if your tank doesn't look like mine! - waters gin though
Notice the width on this fish - that's where stripers get their weight from - not necessarily from their belly - that thickness is where they get heavy
Planer boarding 508 - yall don't even know about these skills right hur!
This was another stud - he lost it goofing off :/
Shed tank is looking pretty barren but we'll work on it soon...
