Just in case someone here is thinking of going to Egypt Valley State Park in Ohio, I went to visit my hunting buddies at camp close to the park. I stayed for 2 days and acted as the camp b**ch serving dinner and breakfast. I've hunted with these guys for over 25 years and, brother, trust me these guys can hunt.
Bottom line: deer hunting was awful, and has been bad for 2 years in that southern Ohio park (coincidentally, about the time I moved to Va). Two reasons were posited about the decline in the deer population: over-hunting and chronic wasting disease. The latter reason was put into question as no one could recall seeing deer carcasses during spring turkey season. The former is probably more logical, because it's nothing to see multiple out of state licenses on trucks roaming through the park. Guys from Texas had occupied the cabin prior to our hunting parties arrival. Guys from Vermont were due to arrive after our hunting party vacated.

I was in a club 2 years ago that had 10 members. 3 of us from VA and the other 7 was from Charlotte, Lexington, Hickory NC! They come up every weekend and hunted both friday and Saturday! I can only imagine now that they opened hunting on sunday!! But its only natural for somebody from the south to come north to hunt!!!

I live in Verona on 5 acres. In the morning as the sun comes up, I watch a herd of deer (15 or so, a giant buck, an albino and all their extended family) frolic through my garden while I take a shower. Sometimes, they hang close while I am outside. The fawn will even come within 10 feet until one of their mothers snort at me. A few months back, a big buck took out the entire side of my car and had the airbags not deployed, I would have been fine. Just yesterday, as I was driving down my long driveway, a big doe jumped out of the woods and seemed to fly like a raindeer into the woods on the other side of my driveway. I swear sometimes it's like that Chevy Chase film... "Cue the deer.!"
Anyway... You all wanna bring yer guns on over? We could use a little thinning out and I can't bring myself to kill one of these beautiful creatures. But I do like me some jerky!

That whole deer was turned into jerky! Just got a dehydrator from gander mountain. 24 rack. 500+ square feet! 500$ going to be more jerky made b4 long!
