Putting in at Indian (Magnum). Will fish with whatever bait I catch in Indian. Can anyone provide general guidance on which creeks to try out? I haven't fished SML in 18 years and any guidance will be appreciated. I'll be fishing in a new Mako 18 LTS. First time ever using an ipilot as well. Thanks TW

I would fish Indian and the channel outside Indian if I were you. I am thinking that the more North you go, the muddier it will get.

Back of Indian has a lot of little shad in it - shouldn't be much trouble finding those.

So Indian is a decent creek to start pulling bait? I can easily run up to Beaverdam or down to B&B if odds are a lot better. Years ago, I never caught any stripers out of Indian, though I didn't fish there much.
Also, should I just find about 25 fow and pull out from there, staying on the 25-30' contour?
Thanks TW

There's been some fish in that area.

I was in upper Roanoke today and there was no muddy water as far up as trestle. However the river running through Salem/Roanoke was slightly up and muddy and may muddy things up a bit in the next day two.

Caught 3 very small stripers on small bait on down lines yesterday. Caught just one today, but it was 39.5". My 18 year old son caught it. 25' deep on a down line. TW

On my hand held, it read 18 lbs 8 ounces. It was fairly thin. I'm guessing that's pretty close. It actually slightly bent my cheap Walmart landing net. TW
