Hey all, I'm not sure if this is the right section, so my apologies if it needs to be moved. I'm coming to the lake in November and had some general fishing questions.
First off, I'm more of a saltwater guy and have never fished SML, so if these are dumb, please take it easy on me! Me and my buddies are just planning on doing some fishing off the dock at the house we've rented. Is there any specific fish we should target off a dock, or can we use a more generalized set up and target multiple fish? As far as equipment, I've got a couple medium duty rods/reel combos and a couple of light duty combos. What would be my best bet to bring? Thanks for any tips!

We will be there middle of November. 14-16th. The house is on a cove and it says it's between lake marker r26 and r27 if that helps.

Put a light out on the dock to draw the bait in closer to the dock.....when the bait shows up the stripers won't be far behind.
I catch a lot of fish casting off my dock late october thru december . (which is also in a cove not far from you).....
Flukes on a 1/4 oz head hoped back to the dock produces awesome results....also, get you some x-rap plugs...... you'll know when they are there and when to start casting....just listen for the sound of hogs wallowing around in the darkness.....
let us know how you do....
oh, catch some of the shad and use them also.....hook them behind the dorsal fin ( careful not to pierce their backbone) , hooking this way, they will continuously try to swim away from the dock....if you hook them in the mouth, with just the weight of the hook and line, they will swim back to the dock in no time....... just lob them out freeline and let them swim around.....

Great, thanks for the tips! One more question. A couple of the guys aren't into fishing like I am, so they might be looking to do something a little easier. Is there a float set up that would work well too, something they can cast once and see what bites?

use the shad, toss them out, prop up your rod, sit back in a lawn chair and enjoy a cold one.... oh..... use this method at you own peril..... i'm not responsible for rods that get pulled into the lake..... .... and if a guy in a boat that says "early riser" on it happens to come idling by, hide you beer, he is a notorious guzzler!!!!! lol !!!
