Hey folks,
Next weekend my family and some friends are going to rent a pontoon from bridgewater and spend the day on the water. We will have the young uns with us, ranging from two to ten years old. Looking for some suggestions on things we can do in thta part of the lake. I usually fish the roanoke arm, so the main lake is a bit new to me. Looking for things like rocks the kids can jump off like the one up from mormans, rope swings, islands they can explore/swim at, and any other attractions. Would love to get them into some catfish or some other species conducive to a pontoon as well. My wife is a little anxious about how much boat trafficwe will see, so if there are any areas that might be a bit quieter, would appreciate the suggestions.

Not really any rocks on the main lake section - but several islands - lots of folks anchor up to the one at Becky & Betty's and hang out (some folks even camp) - and when you get down below the state park there are a few here and there.
Duck into the cove below the Coast Guard station (the one where they are building the new ramp) and anchor up - its a nice place to just hang out and swim - same with the cove just above Captains/Quarters / Parrot Cove. Or, ride all the way down to the bottom of the lake and anchor up below the mountain - nice down there - water is very clear. There is also the state park - docks you can tie up to and there are hiking trails and stuff there.

Like mward mentioned, head down towards the bottom part of the lake. Plenty of coves.along the mountains with nice little beaches you can pull up to and swim or explore.
