This report won't be as detailed as most because I am not real familiar with the lake. But we went out with Captain Kenny Short on the Black Water side from 6:45 AM to 2 PM. We cut our trip an hour short due to the storm moving in and us not wanting to get soaked. Especially because we had already caught tons of fish. Kenny said it took him 3 hours to catch 110 alewives. Said it was a tough bait morning. Water temps were between 81 and 83.6. Air temperature was between 77 and the nineties. Used 20 lb flourocarbon and alewives on drop lines. 6 of us in our group, we caught between 30-35 stripers and missed probably 20 more. Fish were caught every where between 25 and 70 foot of water. The bite was crazy. We caught probably 10 fish in the 10-13 lb range. And the rest were between 7-10 lbs I'd say. Had a couple around 15 lbs. It took us a while to find fish in the morning. But once we did it was on. We marked probably 6-7 good schools of striper through out the day. And scattered fish a day long. But when we caught one, we had 10-15 bites. The front of the boat was having trouble hooking them. My uncle and I in the back had no trouble. I went 7 for 8 and he was probably 9 for 12. Best fishing was from noon to 2. We hit an unbelievable pile of good fish and caught a lot of them. Biggest pod of fish I've seen. Of course I've not striper fished a lot. But seems like we did better than most other boats that were around us. We would see them pick up one fish, we'd catch 5 or 6. Great day and great boat Captain.
