January 01 to December 31 every year. I believe they start feeding near shore at night in September or October. We were new to it all last year. The guys with live bait seemed to have the best luck. Bought a small fishing net to practice with. I know a lot of ppl fish for them by trolling in the summer, but with their tolerance for heat so low, they usually die. I prefer to throw mine back, so striper fishing is cooler weather event.

Welcome MT - lots of good info here, but the best way to get folks to help with good info is to get involved in the posts/discussions/etc - become part of the active group on here - folks that participate and others "get to know" are much more likely to get a lot more out of the forum than those that just "lurk". Look forward to seeing your posts here!

Welcome to the fray. Make sure to post pics of your boat if you have one in the rig section so we can recognize you out there! You a main lake, blackwater, or Roanoke armer?
