Made it up to the lake on Monday evening for a couple days of fishing on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Monday night - drank too much beer and stayed up catching bait. Caught plenty but lots of peanut gizzards until 10 or so when I finally started get ales 10-12 on each throw. Also a few money maker gizzards.
Tuesday - went south to b&b at first light and looked for 45 minutes without marking a school or a fish I could identify as a candidate to be a striper. Headed back north figuring I am better off with lines in the water instead of just looking. Stopped above the bridge and put the down-lines out and before I could get them all out I was marking schools and had a pull down but didn't hook up. This went on over less than 350 yards of water back and forth (marking schools no hooks ups and a pull down for every 3-4 schools I marked) for 3 1/2 hours before I finally got one. It was a 9 lber and he hit the grease tonight. Fish were in 95-102' of water and around 28-40' deep. Late lunch at Moosies, trip to Bedford to look at a couple of houses and back to the point. Decided to start throwing early and glad I did, was done by 9 PM with some of the nicest ales I have seen in a long time. Also had caught some small bluegill to try and flathead fish but was beat from the day so I just casted them from the point for a couple hours with no luck.
Wednesday - Woke up to pouring down rain and was thankful for my dinky bimini top. Obviously went to where I marked all the fish on Tuesday hoping they had turned on to find out they had left. Caught one anyway around 7 lbs. I enjoyed seeing them and not catching more than catching one without seeing any. Left early to get the boat cleaned up and get home and was off the water by 9:30 or so.
Water temps were in the 80 degree range the entire time. Fishing was slow but had a great time and kept the skunk out of the boat both days!
