So fishing Lake Anna now and its tough to find cool clean lake water with my deep water pump. The lake is shallow in comparison to SML. So the night before I go I fill my SBT II with chlorinated water from the house and put a half capful of bait saver and end up with cool very clean de-chlorinated bait water. Interestingly enough starting with this clean water keeps the ammonia and stench way down. The bait was very much alive with no signs of duress after 6 hours.
Done this 3 times now and no issues.

Yea Charlie, thats all I do now. Bait stays frisky for a long time. I am going to Anna this Saturday, are you going to be around? Are the herring still under 208?

Cool water is good. That dechlorinator may also have something that can "lock up" some amount of ammonia - though with the colder water, the ammonia is less toxic

Bait under any of the bridges is a mixed bag with every net. You get 100 threadfins, 4 yellow perch, 2 crappie, and 3 jumbo blue backs.
Saw a bunch of folks yesterday hitting dock lights instead of the bridges.
