weekend report 8/18

Made it out over the weekend with some noobies ( real adventure . Water temp 81, downlines 40-60 ft. and some jigging. Bait actually still easy, 2 throws and done (deep water light). Weather was pretty nice Saturday..... Sunday....the fish didn't seem to mind but rain and much to cool for shorts, tee shirt and a 30 min. boat drive. Shakin" like a dog shi*** a peach seed.

I fried up some fish from couple weekends ago friday evening, so they wouldn't let me release their limit Saturday.....Sorry!!!

Bigun - those look like the perfect summer-time harvest fryin' up size. Nothing wrong with keeping a few this time of year, especially when catching them down 50'.

Is that really the thermocline at 20'? I typically see it much deeper - 35'+, although to be honest I've not looked much for it this summer and/or been fishing down the lake where it generally does not set up. I wonder if it was just some type of temperature layer due to the recent rain (was that from Sat or Sun?)

Mike, those screen shots were from Saturday. Heck I don't know, I just assumed it was the thermocline, it is awfully thin for a very hot summer like we've had. Funny thing is, for the first 30 minutes I kept asking the newbies which one of them couldn't count, because one of them had their bait down only 20"......but it was on the unit at 20' both days.

Funny, I don't recall saying that I was fishing down lake.
