Just wondering you guys opinions on the matter. Have been told on here to use Gamakatsu octopus hooks so thats what I have been using. Went fishin with a buddy of mine a week ago and he was fishing eagle claw circle hooks (3/0). I felt like I was hooking up a little bit better with the circles, and got a few packs. Before I switch all of my hooks over I just wanted to hear some pros/cons on going with circle hooks or octopus.

I use circles on downlines and octopus hooks on lightlines and freelines. I've used circles in the past on all and they worked but was talked out of them on lightlines and freelines.

I have had an Eagle Claw snap in half tryin to land a fish, so I dont buy that brand anymore. I use circle hooks on everything, but I almost never rig a planer.

Mward can't be trusted with circle hooks!! He's too quick to grab the rod!! Circles on down rods -- Octopus on boards are what I prefer. You can go circles on flatlines but you've gotta be patient with the rod and let it load up or sweep it..no quick hookset. Circles on boards are tricky for me...we catch a lot that hit the bait and come at us with a slack line..I've not been successful in this case with circles but could be my lack of understanding. With an octopus I feel like I still have some control to get the fish hooked in that situation.

Mward can't be trusted with circle hooks!! He's too quick to set the hook!! Well, that is the way superstriper & leo taught him to do it......I guess old BASS habits are hard to break.
