Well I finally did it. I bought a 30 gallon EZ Flow bait tank. Everyone tells me that this bait fishing is going to change me. We shall see. I do have a few questions though.
1.) Does anyone use the carbon filters or just the poly fill or a combination of other material?
2.) Should I upgrade to the Dannco Venturi system?
3.) How do you know what the water temp should be throughout the year or is there a general "safe" temp?
Any help is appreciated. Thanks

1.) I've tested carbon filters and I see no real advantage in short term storage. 2.) Yes! Hell yes! The answer to that question is always yes! 3.) Simple answer is surface water is fine October through May. June-Sept keep your water 62-75ish.

I run carbon in the hotter months - if the carbon is fresh it does seem to help keep a tank of ales going skunk as fast - but I'm talking about over a 2-3 day period. Less than 24 hours the only benefit is it help a little in filtration to clear up dirty water.
I don't bother (unless it's in the tank already) with a bunch of gizzards - in fact when fishing nothing but a tankful of mongo gizzards I'll pull the carbon bags out as they will clog more easily from the shad slime and that's not a good thing.

And ignore the recommended 800 gph pump it lists - you want to use the 500 gph pump with it.

Gator, IMO the stock air venturi in these tanks works great. I am not going to fool with mine because there is no need to.
