Thinking about the possibility of holding our very first tournament. This would be a catch, photo, and release style tournament held in the latter part of October or early November. It's not a definite yet, but I would like to get a feel for those that would be interested in competing in one to see if it's even worth our time. This would be an open tournament - open to anyone and everyone.

I took the not sure route. Only because of the time frame. That is the time of year that many of us like to be in the woods too. Would be interested otherwise. Heck my 20" fish wouldn't make much difference anyway.

I would be down for a late October tournament, say Oct 18/19, 25/26 or even Nov 1/2. Any later in Nov and I'd be out, baby is due 2nd week in Nov and I'd hate to be on the lake when she needs to go downtown.
Typically I'd be hunting this time of year, but with Sunday hunting this year I'll have the time to get in some fishing days too.

Entry would be $50-60/boat with an optional $25 big fish side pot. Payout would be 100% unless we decide to build/buy measuring boards then we'd be looking at like 85% payout to cover the boards.
If it looks like we can get 15-20 boats or more, we'll see if we can make it happen and even look into some sponsor donations, etc.

I'd do it although my entry fee should be considered a donation.

Maybe if it were 1/2 entry fee for non-motorized crafts.

Split it up into half a dozen categories so that everyone can win and there is no point in doing it as there are not enough folks in any given category to have enough prize money to be interesting. Fall is a time where any fishing style can be successful and I'd argue guys in kayaks and small boats are not really disadvantaged either - heck, they may have a few advantages.....

Bring your "A-Game", and may the best fisherman win. Like you said, fall is a time when almost anything will put a good fish in the boat. May the most skilled (or lucky) angler win!!!!

I wasn't implying that it needed multiple divisions. In fact, would prefer only one. can't wait to catch a nice 20" or maybe a 21" fish in my clean boat.

Fishing works my heart enough as it is. I couldn't handle throwing in a competition.
