Family and I took the camper down to Beth Page Camp Resort for 6 days which is on the Rappahannock River not far from where it dumps into the bay. Had a good trip and got some fishing in while down there. Spent a monring with a freind and the owner of Release Reels in Reedville tourning their shop and watching how they make their reels. While I was there had them take apart and service one of my reels. Was very cool to see an up an rising company doing their daily grind.
As for the fishing, I fished 3 out of the 6 days.
The first day was the afternoon after the shop visit fishing around a natural preserve and its grass flats. Wind really picked up and made fishing tough. I was targeting reds, specs, and stripers but no luck. Had several hits and after each hit the tail section of my paddle tail would be misshing. I'm thinking it was baby blues.
The second day we got up early and drove down to the route 3 bridge that goes across the mouth of the Rappahannock to fish along the bridge pilings. We were treated to a beautiful sunrise.
The first several sets of pilings are all shallow about 6 feet deep which did not produce much so I moved on after a very short bit. I went to about halfway across the river and anchored up down wind of one of the pilings in about 25' of water. that proved to be a great choice since as soon as my bottom rig hit bottom it was getting slammed by 12" croaker.
This went on all morning. It was so hot that it took me 30 minutes to just get my second rod out which proved to keep me completely non stop busy till my cooler was full of 12" croaker by 830 am so called it quits and headed back to clean fish and spend the rest of the day with the family at the campground waterpark.
The third day of fishing I deceided to sleep in a little and just head out of the campground and fish around there. Stayped busy with croaker but they were all a lot smaller in that area only averaging 6-8" so did not bother keeping any of those. Headed back to the campground ramp once my little one was up and took the wife and little on out for a cruise around the creek in the yak.
Will have a more full right and pictures and video once i have some slow time to sit down and go through them all.
