This is an interesting article about how they distributed 120 tons of iron sulfate into the northeast Pacific to stimulate a phytoplankton bloom which in turn would provide ample food for baby salmon. You have to wonder if this would work in fresh water to increase the population and size of bait fish which would in turn provide more food for larger stripers. link
