Spring season hen walking all around my blind. Came in yelping back at me...she'd start to leave, get maybe 30 yards and I could yelp soft and she'd come right back talkin, cuttin, cluckin. We hunted in Troutville this year right against the nat'l forest boundary, and had birds booming at us every morning. No shots. Incredible / horrible season. A buddy had a tom land way out in front of him and gobbled all the way into his decoys, strutted around them gobbling, but he couldn't find a beard. I had a giant tom blowing up the woods for 200 yards coming in, stepped out of the woodline downhill from me, walked across the field looking uphill at my decoys, and kept right on walking into the opposite treeline. I thought that bird was MINE, to the point of safety off, gun trained down at him, just waiting for him to turn and step up towards the decoys. DAMN those turkeys, DAMN them!

Hard to see him, but there's a jake on the edge of the field, right in the middle of the pic (it's the little tan spot). He walked right past me and up to the decoys, never made a peep coming in or while he was in the field. Man oh man, spring turkey will get your heart pumping!
