Hi gents...I had to see if I could hunt up some summer schools the past few days. Love all of it, from the 430am bait to the blackouts to the jumping off the bow a couple times per morning. Did good Mon, hammered em pretty well Tues, then went dead bait, dead bait, dead co-pilot remote...strike out, strike out, thrown out at first!
They'd be moving mid-creeks/coves and on back from 830-930am, then turn around and charge out 10-11am. Mostly bait fishing, but some jigging thrown in...the only time they really hit the fluke for me was late morning when they were ganged up and moving fast on the way out.
Like most of yall, I've been fishing since I was a little kid and there are some things that still give me the shakes and watching stripers blitz across the sonar is one of them. Classic late-summer stuff...
Mid-creek, following the bait towards the back...
Ganged up late morning, and heading out fast...were hitting the fluke finally here...
Bait stuff: peanut city with all the juvenile alewives. The big guys were on the edges in deeper water lights. Money maker size gizzies are in the lower lake now in the lights. I lost all or a lot of my bait for 5 days. Cleaned the tank, got water from diff places, brought the temp down well, plenty of salt, good aeration...the best I can come up with is the cove I'm in is going a little hypoxic, maybe from too much heat/algae blooms, something...perhaps very low O2. Very frustrating.
Hope folks are getting some, and trying to wrangle a few more trips before the dove shoots start...I don't know what it is with the bird of peace and love, but wow they're fun to shoot (at)...
