I got to my spot round 5pm and fished until 7:30. I only caught one striper 28". A friend of mine was already there when I got there, he had caught 7. We was right above cat rock. Another friend of mine fished from cat rock back down below the boat ramp, he caught two. I talked to a few more friends of mine that was down below the boat ramp and they had only caught a few. All of the fish caught was over 24" and was real fat fish. I checked the one I caught out real good. It was a male and he showed know sign of spawning yet witch is a good thing. That school of fish that was in brookneal the other day is probably around Melrose or long island now. piper you should be able to get into them up your way today. O yea, I did miss 4 more that I know was stripers. Buzzard

Yea me to. A friend of mind caught one 16lbs the other night while cat fishing in the brookneal area. I guess that 26in limit a few years ago really helped. I've heard of some real nice fish this year.
Buzzard.

Tried it for a few hours my way this evening..I was quickly reminded why I was giving the river a break. Snags, lost lures, wind and paddling...yuk No stripers..landed a beautiful 4lb smallie...missed another smallie citation after he surface and threw my hook. Biggest ive ever seen in the river Missed a few more small ones..used flukes and bucktails
