My wife and I hail from Shenandoah, VA. We came up in the fall and caught a couple of Stripers. I caught our bait and fish up near Hardy. Where is the best area to fish now? We are coming down 4/25 - 4/29. We are staying mid lake. Would appreciate some intel on where to fish / catch bait.
Thank You and tight lines - sure love the reports!

Welcome to the forum, should be some fish mid lake, seems like all the fish don't go to the dam now.

Thank you so much for that piece of info. I took her to sml on our honeymoon 15 years ago and she caught her first striper near an island mid lake on a bucktail in the fall that year. So I assume that the greatest population of fish would be down near the dam this time a year? It sounds like the big mongo baits are being caught way up in creeks in the shallows now? I am looking forward to posting some catching reports!
Thank You,
Mark and Odessa

Welcome Mark, I live over in Broadway and do some fishing on the Shenandoah River near Shenandoah frequently. You should have no problem finding some fish in the mid-lake area. I will also be down there this coming weekend and will be chasing them in the same area. Good luck.

You should be able to find gizzards in the creeks - the "mongos" have gotten scarce in the last few weeks but plenty of "money makers" to be had. Ales should be coming into the lights also.

Thank you all. We will be in my old 78 hydrasport Kevlar center with brown stripe with mercury 150 on the back. Thank you for all your help so far. This is a great board. The Shenandoah river runs through my back yard with excellent basin, so I will be glad to show you what works here if you are ever up this way.
Thanks,
Mark & Odessa

Anything else we should know for the next 4 days please msg me - saw the post about the bass tourney! I picked up some other info from the how to board that should tell my fishing compass what direction to head.
Thanks again and look forward to seeing you guys out there....and I will do that survey with vdgif cause I sure spend some money to catch those striped ones!
I chased the salt striped ones for years and caught my 50 pounders, but my wife hates the waves, so it's time we settled in on the calm water and came back home to where we began striper fishing years ago.
Thank you all for your welcome and we feel so blessed to become a part of your fishing community!

mad house on the lake last two days, fished from long island to a quiet cove past the dam. I just caught some nice mongos. Where to go in the rain tomorrow?
