So, you're running down the lake heading to another spot after you've been searching for a while, marking scattered fish, a small pod here and there - picked up a few small fish but nothing to write home about. You open up the motor and make a big move to another part of the lake..... Drop off plane.... And.... ;D Although honestly this was TOO fast - by the time we got bait down we had moved off - took a while to get back on the edge of them and we really only ever got on top of some smaller pods/schools after that, but they were occasionally eating and we picked up some fish out of it. Water temps: 84-86 Weather: clear turning sunny, still then a breeze picked up mid-morning, upper 70s rising to low 8[/b]0s Techniques: alewives on downlines in 30-70 feet; fished 6:15a-11a Got my new neighbor who's learning striper fishing some fish and more importantly got his buddy that went with us on his first ever striper (even if they weren't big fish) Fish on! Fish, fish, everywhere Thanks Cliff & Mark for the word.....

Nice!!!! glad you got a few......always love to see screen shots. They were in there good last year at about this time.... I edited this part, felt like I was hijacking your report.

It's always fun to put folks on fish that have never caught stripers before. At one point after a quick back to back almost double my neighbor's buddy turns to me and says "now that's fun, I don't care who you are" - figured he'd fit in pretty good around these parts....

I should add that the fish seemed to like the medium to smaller sized ales today.... Not unusual for summer I guess - still hard to turn away those prime-choice ales as well as all the money maker gizzards in the lights....

No - well, yes for about 30 seconds - was never really on top of enough to get a jig down. However several guys were jigging and picked up a few here an there - one guy next to me was over the big school and snagged on on the outside of its mouth ;D

Mike, There is always a little pressure when you take out a friend striper fishing for the first time. I am glad you were able to get on some fish. Great report as well.
