I heard this week Ron Vest has recovered from his illness and is starting to build Super Bait Tanks again. The 30 gallon will be available with both spray and air diffuser systems and will have lights. Just passing on what might be of interest to some.

He's had the lights in the tank for several years now - makes it nice. Was not aware he still made/had an option for them with the spray bar.
Captain's Quarters is expecting a shipment of tanks in during April (mid-April I think I heard).

I just spoke to Ron Vest. He said the wait list is 10-12 weeks now.

I just spoke to Ron Vest. He said the wait list is 10-12 weeks now. Translation = you'll never get one. Why doesn't Ron just hire some help..clearly he has the demand. I did hear he did that once before and his "helper" is now his competitor as the guy stole all his molds, etc.

I'm tempted to buy a grayline and glue in a divider to convert it to the gravity filter like a SBTII.
I'm also talking to a rotomold guy to see what the break even point would be for making a run of SBTII knockoffs. I don't want to do that but it's an option.

I have totally given up on the SBT II. Yes I know he has been sick but dang. Sounds as if it is a hobby to him and not a actual business. Worried about someone "stealing your idea". Get a lawyer and apply for a patent. Seems easy to me but what do I know. I will def not be buying a SBT II and will spend my money on the EZ Flow tank that will more than likely sit in a barn and never get used. Useless discussion as far as I am concerned.

There is too much prior art and not enough money in a niche product in a tiny market like this to pay for the lawyers it would take to defend a tenuous patent. A product like this *is* a hobby and making money at it is all about execution. Looks like it would take about 100 units to pay for a rotomolded design that would take very little labor to assemble... It would also substantially undercut the price of all of the current products I'm aware of. But I have a day job and I am looking for a bait tank in the first place because I'm too lazy to modify my existing live well!

Well that's why I got an ez flow. However, a fella that I know just found out his tank that he was waiting on for 6+ months shipped out this past Monday. This to me means that production had finally re started. Either way, lake temps at Anna are now in the mid 70's so I know it's similar out at SML. I just couldn't wait for a tank, and am happy with my purchase for the time being.

Brcarls, Yeah after thinking about it I guess you are correct. Heck, he may only get one or two tanks out before the patent ran out anyway.

Problem is he is catering to the Ga and SC guys despite promising the Va guys the first tanks. Can't say I blame him, but I like to be shot straight..if its gonna be July, no problem just tell me July..not April.

My experience with Ron was nothing but Good --- Talked on the phone with him, sent check to him, he told me he was not moving fast because just coming off surgery -- told me 2-3 months -- called him once about 2 months in --- BOOM, bait tank showed up in 10 weeks --Thank you Mr. Vest.
Called him with a couple of question over the next month -- He always answered the phone -- My experience was a 10 --- AND I am enjoying my 35 gallon tank many times a week!!!!!!
It is disappointing if Ron is personally promising tanks to people in time frames and not producing -- I believe that he would not do that, and the truth is getting lost in translation from person to person and through the WEB ---

I know my friend and Dewayne were both told April by Ron. And when they called in early May he hadn't even started them yet. Ron's a good guy going through a tough time right now, but it was annoying for my friend to wait 2months on a tank with the expectation it would be here in April as number 1 on Rons list then find out it wasn't even started yet and it would be 4-6 more weeks. Then I have a friend in Georgia who owns a tackle shop and he got a batch of 6 in April so clearly Dewayne wasn't number 1 on the list. I own a Vest and love it..just seems people are having a tough time knowing when these tanks will show up especially when they're already waiting long periods, but it goes to show how good of a tank it is that they're willing to wait that long in the first place! I waited 8 weeks for mine and that was 2 years ago.
