What happened to this boat? It used to be clean and nice. At least it's getting used, right?

You haven't been around in awhile then! I've had that boat for over 8yrs now - it has seen it's fair share of abuse, but it's hanging in there!

8 years would be about right. I am still shopping for a new or gently used boat. I should have kept that Polar. It was a nice boat. I think I want an aluminum boat with jet outboard this time but really not sure. So many boats so little time............

I have one that I am taking the stick steer out of and putting in a center console. They are hard to find used, but I priced a tunnelled 1654, .190 gauge bottom, center console for just the boat, no carpet and it was $6500. Add UHMW plastic to protect the bottom from rock rash, $2000!! All in all, they are pretty affordable when you consider the cost of custom boats. Now that I have owned this boat (heavy, very protected) I have a really good idea on what the pros and cons are about them. I do really like this boat a lot, but if I had the cash I would go with an inboard jet in the 150-200hp range

Thanks for the reply. Not sure what I am gonna get anymore. We stopped off at Cabela's in Bristol on the way back from Tennessee the other day and the Lowe 178 stinger is a very nice boat. I think it is leading the pack right now..

Well I can tell ya, I love my jet! BUT, if I were to have only one boat, it would CERTAINLY not be a jet boat. If you try to run up the lake on a 6"-1' chop, you WILL cavitate the whole trip. Enough to make you throttle down and hop off plane. The skinniest of skinny water rigs have a very shallow v, to a completely flat hull. This will pound the fillings out of your teeth. Top that off with a forward mounted console so the boat floats level at rest, and you have yourself a one trick pony. Shallow, concealed waterways. Don't get me wrong, it is exhilarating running through 8'-12' wide creeks and up shallow spots where no one else can get to. But, I also have a 20' deep V that I can hit much bigger water with. I promise you that you won't catch me in the lower James with this boat

I would love to have something I don't have to worry about destroying i.e lower unit which I just did on my Suzuki.

Ok man, that sounds fun. The boat is in overhaul mode right now as I am converting it from stick steer to center console. I would LOVE to come down there and run it through some marshes. It will run in 4" of water if we are running in sandy bottoms. I wouldn't take it that skinny in rock gardens like the James.
Sorry to hear about the lower. Where did that happen at?

Icw near my place. Sandy bottom in 14' of water. Hit something submerged/floating. Thank God for trolling motor.
