Since the board has been so slow the last few days thought I would throw this out:
What new gadget, toy, rod/reel, electronics, hot babe, etc. is on the wish list for your boat. I just added a GoPro and been thinking about a down rigger in the future. Lets hear it folks.

I have a short list, just want to get mine running again. Taking to the shop this w/e to drop it off. More time on the water is all I want.

Second bilge pump
Get my house and cranking batteries isolated and the aux charging lead hooked up. Right now there is just one circuit with a 1 2 both switch. No excuse for the factory doing it that way just to save a wire.
Filter box and recirculation pump for my aft livewell.
Vhf with dsc
A step on top of my winch stand to make solo launching easier.
Minn kota talon
Lights with magnetic switches in all compartments

Finally getting mine where I want it to be. A few things left to do. A new trolling motor, old one quit working A few more rod holders A GoPro would be nice. A few more rods and reels LED lights for the boat Seems like there are always things to add to a fishing boat.

I just added an on board battery charger, rear mounted trim switch for ease of using the motor toater...and a self inflating life vest, still have the auto bilge switch to install.....
Far as my wish list....I would still like to have a 24 volt trolling motor and a kick butt lowrance fish finder....auto timers on my live wells and maybe some black light LEDs for night fishing and recirculating and aeration pumps for the live wells

maybe some black light LEDs for night fishing
Know a lot of the bass guys run them at night but if you check the Navigation Rules they are not legal. Just a word of warning, DGIF told me they were writing tickets for them.

I've heard the same thing.....I don't see the difference in a strip of LEDs vs a black light siting on the side of the boat but......."... The LEDs outside the boat are an issue - argument is potential for obscuring nav lights or confusion at best. There is a pontoon down around Bulls that had purple or something lighting up the toons and I believe they got a warning if not a ticket. I know some guys with bass boats are putting a section of led rope lights or strip lights on either side of the bow in place of the nav lights but these are technically illegal - even if they meet the nav rules for visibly (angle and such) - as they are not Coast Guard approved - one of those little red tape issues about having to have a CG approved stamp on the fixture..... Other issue is if they are installed correctly so you can view the right lights when you should and shouldn't. But if the have the same level of intensity and can be seen and I know which way you're going, I'm for better visibility over CG approved stamps..... Now, putting the all-round white light on the outboard cowling - that's something I'll take issue with..... Use your dang pole so we can see it / you and when you're running I can use it along with the bow lights to know which what you're heading at me at 60 mph

All around white should be 1 meter above the deck per Nav rules. See a lot of boats where you see the front lights and have to wait until they move to see the white light cause the guy in the back is blocking it or has his hat on it so the bugs won't eat him up. As far as lights go the front red and green are set up to be seen from ahead to 112.5 degrees on either side, that is where the problem comes up, and have to be visible for 2 miles. I know you can't see that far on the lake, but remember the rules are for everywhere.

Here is a link to the navigation rules, if you have a real slow day and can't find anything to do. Boring reading and confusing at times, but remember just like the rules on the road you had to learn to drive a car, you are required to know these to operate a vessel on the water. www.uscg.mil/directives/cim/16000-16999/cim_16672_2d.pdfThey also have a app for $3.99 at the app store.

Sorry to de-rail the thread with my nav light rant I want to add some LED strips inside a few hatches. I put them in the bilge compartments when I did the rewiring / toy addition year before last, but I still have not gotten around to adding them to the console storage compartments. Brian - have you found a source for magnetic switches that are robust enough for a marine environment? They would be a good idea if you can count on them not getting stuck "on".

You have probably seen my diagram using a different user name in a rub rail nav light thread on bbc that hurt some feelings... I was kinda a *bleep* when they tried to brush aside the geometry issue I pointed out. I have not identified a switch but figured that a magetic switch that can be fully seal has got to be better than a pin switch. When I get around to it I was planning to see what mouser offers... worst case I could encapsulate the switch in epoxy or 5200!

Take a look at COLE HERSEE switches, Shepards in Roanoke used to carry them, they don't anymore. I used to buy them for equipment, they are sealed and waterproof, not cheap and you will have to order them online. But they used to work very well Did a little more looking and found the online catalog www.colehersee.com/home/catalogs/

One of these days I'll have a full on bass boat but I have to say my fish & ski has been a great compromise for those times I take the family out Anyway, I'd really like to get a Hummingbird 898 with 360. All donations are greatly appreciated
