Okay, I've got and HDS10 Gen2, with Structure Scan, what do I need to get Sirius radio with it? I've been looking at Lowrance site and they're no help at all. I presently have no sound system on my boat. It seems some packages contain the antenna, with speakers, etc and some are just an antenna. I don't really care about the weather module but its seems you must get that to get Sirius radio. Any help would be greatly appreciated. John

$$$$$$ Ive used them over the years..even before the merger. Some nice channels andcommercial free is nice. They do cycle through the same songs though. They use the satellite tv model in which they give you low rates then jack em up over time. They wont lower em unless you disconnnect or threaten to do so.

to answer your question. Yes you will need an antenna to receive the satellite signal. Looks like thus connects via ethernet. For sound you will need a sound/speaker system installed. You will run a mini cable(looks like the end of headphones on both side) from the sirius to your sound system
to be honest. It may be a lot cheaper for you to just purchased a serious ready radio and speakers on its own. These are all over eBay and will probably save you a lot of money in the long run

Piper, thanks, but I'm pretty much aware of what standard Siruis requires. I'm looking for a way to use some of what I have onboard to get it on the boat. Okay folks, let me re-phrase my question. I want to connect Sirius radio up with my HDS-10 Gen 2 unit. I know some of you guys on here have done that. What exactly do I need? I know the Lowrance Sonic Hub will connect other players, MP3 etc, to your speakers onboard. But I'm aware that some Sirius kits come with speakers that connect vie the HDS units. I don't think I need to get the Sonic Hub just to use Sirius with my unit. Is everyone in hibernation? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm starting to hear the fish calling.

See if you can still find the LWX-1 - it's the Sirius Weather module and can receive radio. The inland weather package and radio will run you about $25-$30/mo I believe. The Sirius weather module will connect to the HDS over Ethernet - but it has an audio output to connect to your stereo.
If all you want is radio then don't worry about the HDS side - get a good stereo that supports Sirius radio and the antenna / receiver.

The SonicHub is a stereo that has it's user interface via the HDS. Has AM/FM tuner and inputs for USB/iPod, Sat Radio, & Aux input. Drives 4 speakers and can few into an external amp. Made by Fusion Electronics for Lowrance/Simrad.

If all you want is music then just get a marine stereo head unit that supports Sirius or XM radio and the necessary antenna. I like the units from Fusion.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the info. Looks like I'm shopping for a Fusion radio here pretty soon. It would sure be nice if they made a unit you could transfer from the truck to the boat and back. Cheers, John
