First fishing trip of the year. Went out after lunch and fished till dark. Too pretty of a day to expect much fishing action and didnt get any either. Saw fish at the mouth of creeks and over the main channel but could not get them to bite. Jigged chartreuse flukes and spoons. Also pulled 2 umbrella rigs for a while, 1 white and 1 chartreuse targeting the 25' to 35' range. Again no bites. Water was stained and murky but not muddy. Temps were 41. ice in the back of coves and creeks. Birds wont much help

You pretty much nailed my write up..hope its ok to piggyback on this thread. Plenty of seagulls from Old Womans back to the dam...and even more shad..they were stacked. Caught a mixture of sizes and tried downline, light line , and a planner.. Had a couple nice hits/pull downs and marked a bunch of fish...no hookups...I bet they didnt need to eat with all the shad lol
