Aight you electrical wizards...brake lights and turn signals work fine with headlights off on truck. Turn the headlights on and tail lights and turn signals work and when you push the brakes the lights on passenger side trailer dies while drivers side works fine. Test light shows power coming out the plug at truck and power in the wires to trailer lights so....what is it. Ground issue inside the light housing?

Ain't the bulb itself is it?

My guess is a ground issue or as gotcha said the bulb itself.

I'd say a ground problem too. Maybe where the light mounts to the trailer. Does the light have a ground wire or is it one of those that grounds through a mounting bolt?

Grounds through the mounting bolts. Bulb is good, pretty sure its a ground problem somewhere with the housing either inside the housing or not good contact with trailer

Sounds like a ground problem..get someone to hold a wire on the metal on the bulb holder and ground the other end that good that will be the easies way to tell, may need a new light if WD-40 don't fix it.

That is the reason I started running ground wires to the lights when I wire a trailer, sometimes they just won't ground thru the frame. I know they cost a bit more, but the led's are the way to go now.

Grounds through the mounting bolts. Bulb is good, pretty sure its a ground problem somewhere with the housing either inside the housing or not good contact with trailer Most of the time I've found the problem is between the light mounting bolt and the trailer. You could probably remove the light and wire brush the nut & bolt and the trailer frame that it tightens against and you'd be good to go. Hope that takes care of it. Good luck.

I've had a lot of trouble with grounds through the frame, same way on the ground to the tow ball sometimes they will ground good sometimes they won't. Now I always use grounds to each light when I wire a trailer, plus I ground the frame too and a ground on the tow vehicle. I don't like to take chances on trailer light,I want them to work and be as bright as possible to be seen.

Yeah, the old ground trough the tow hitch ball. Hook up the trailer and if the lights don't work just drive a couple miles till they do.
I'm glad you got it worked out Shadslinger.
