Greetings. I'm not sure which forum this goes in but I've run into a dilemma. I decided to lose my one and only key for my boat in the last 24 hours and want to go fishing on Monday. Nobody local has an ignition switch. I called Gander Mountain and they said I could go to Advanced Auto and get a switch there. So my question is. Is this correct? My boat has a mercury Black Max 150 which has the push to choke option. I'm not sure if that matters. Any help would be much appreciated.

Check the Fisher store at Moneta, they had them it stock last year when a buddy of mine needed one. If they don't you can always put the choke on a toggle switch, one of the ones you have to hold to make connection.

bit the bullet and ordered one from Amazon Next Day Air. It seemed like more trouble than it was worth to get an earlier start. Hopefully it shows up on time and we can still hit the lake for a few hours

Yea man just be careful when finnicking in that control box. I rewired a switch up to my old merc and as soon as I hooked up the battery the control box started smoking!! Got it fixed but man that freaked me out.

Some switches have the wires in different order, on the back and you have to use the codes instead of just looking and changing the wires, one of the switches I got had them all in different places I had to look at the switch codes and wire them like that.

Thanks guys...of course the switch doesnt show up on time and we spend 2 hrs trying to hotwire the damn thing..low and behold my old key turns up .. We did manage to troll around for awhile and catch some bait but were pretty limited until the last hour or so. Fishing was a bust but at least I found my key..

Be sure and some spares made so that won't happen again.
